Howard J. Luks, M.D. is a New York based, Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with offices in Westchester and Dutchess Counties, and is an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at New York Medical College where he’s entrusted with the training of the next generation of Orthopedic Surgeons. Also, at University Orthopedics, PC and Westchester Medical Center he serves as the Chief of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy.
Dr. Luks is both one of the leading voices in healthcare social media, and one of its pioneers. He’s well known, but not a “celebrity doctor”. Rather, he’s an in-the-trenches, working physician who actively practices what he preaches. He’s also been named to the inaugural Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media Advisory Board, and is listed by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top Sports Medicine Doctors.
In his own words, “My presence online is to support the spread of meaningful, trustworthy, evidence based (when available), actionable information and guidance to patients and consumers from around the world. I feel that physicians have a moral obligation to fill Google’s servers with quality content to drown out the commercialized nonsense that exists online today.”
Howard is a visionary, a trail blazer, and a mentor to many other healthcare professionals who wish to establish themselves on today’s web 2.0.
