Increasing fiscal challenges and widening disparities have compounded the urgency for making the case for academic medicine. The Tripp Umbach reports have provided quantitative data on the financial impact that medical schools and teaching hospitals have on their communities, as employers and drivers of the local economy. Is the message about the public’s return on its investment in medical education, research and patient care reaching the right people at the right time? This session will highlight efforts to create a meaningful and effective message with input and feedback from the perspective of local community and government officials.
