@Pharmacist_MTL @BRxAD @ASP_Chat #FOMO You CAN say no to s/t that looks like an amazing opportunity but timing doesn't fit. & even better if you can pass opportunity to a mentee. Right @klusardi41? Monica Mahoney @mmPharmD
@MK_IDpharm @ASP_Chat We have official "advisors" in our residency programs. But IMO "mentors" should be based on chemistry and common goals. #ASPchat
Betsy Hirsch, PharmD (TTPD) @EB_Hirsch
@ASP_Chat Yes, kind of. I have had mentors assigned to me before. It only works if the mentor is invested and interested in the mentee. If it’s not an organic fit, it doesn’t work #ASPChat
Brandon Dionne @BWDionne
@ASP_Chat Sometimes my mentors look it so effortless. It would have been helpful if they shared some of their struggles with me so I would have learned how they handle the pressure with grace. #ASPChat

Brandon Dionne @BWDionne
@ASP_Chat It really depends how the program is structured. I've found that it can be good to get advice from someone who you don't necessarily click with, but I think of them more as an adviser than a mentor. #ASPChat
Brad Langford @BRxAD
@ASP_Chat It is important to cater to the unique needs and interests of the mentee. Many mentor-mentee relationships are supportive rather than simply instructive. #ASPchat
Betsy Hirsch, PharmD (TTPD) @EB_Hirsch
@BWDionne @ASP_Chat I remember my first rejected conference abstract as a fellow. I was crushed but my mentor shrugged it off. He told me “if you’re not getting rejected, you’re not submitting enough” That has always stuck with me. Now I tell mentees the same thing! #ASPchat

@ASP_Chat Be honest about things that were difficult or a struggle. Being successful isn’t about everything being easy, it’s also about working hard and persevering. If mentees never see that, they won’t get why they “fail” when everyone else achieves things easily! #ASPChat
Mike Stevens @Dr_Mike_Stevens
@ASP_Chat Remember how hard it could be as a student/ resident/ fellow. Help the mentee prioritize what's most important at any given point in time. If you aren't the right mentor help them find the right one. See their potential, celebrate their successes and be positive #ASPChat
Brandon Dionne @BWDionne
