Tim Grutzius @holisticff @TruthPathing Good evening everyone! #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing #PTSDchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @holisticff: @TruthPathing Good evening everyone! #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing I'm with you #PTSDChat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @TruthPathing A1 Unity means a coming together- more specifically (to me), it is the joining of like-minded people whose mission is to make this world a better place to live through education, 1-to-1 peer support, and just holding space for those in need. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet A1a) Unity is me hanging out with people who think like me. A1b) I don't know. I don't hang out with people who think like me. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing We have posted the “I’m Triggered” declaration this evening. We’ll be using that as necessary from now on, and is only to be used in a serious context. #PTSDchat

The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet A1b-v2) I guess if you get enough people around, who've all acknowledged each other's PTSD, then nitwits might stop themselves from saying whatever comes to mind. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @holisticff I like the “holding space” especially. It gives people a chance to join in at Will, and feel welcome. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: A1a) Unity is me hanging out with people who think like me. A1b) I don't know. I don't hang out with people who think like me. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet You do here! #ptsdchat We all come to agreement on a lot of things!
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @TruthPathing A2 It is knowing that others are walking a similar journey, and can relate to your story. The collective union of said people can achieve a shift in the stigma associated with PTSD/MH issues by advocating and educating those who do not have, or may not understand. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: A1b-v2) I guess if you get enough people around, who've all acknowledged each other's PTSD, then nitwits might stop themselves from saying whatever comes to mind. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Strength in unity creates cause for pause in those who might just saying anything. #ptsdchat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @TruthPathing Sometimes all you need to do is be present, and let another open up when ready. It is know that the support is available is what can make the difference. Everyone heals in different ways. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet A2a) Easier to string people up if you've got a posse along. A2b) Uh, what's the unifying factor(s) if it's not PTSD? #PTSDChat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff RT @TruthPathing: We have posted the “I’m Triggered” declaration this evening. We’ll be using that as necessary from now on, and is only to be used in a serious context. #PTSDchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing Also easier to form an outrage mob if you get the itch. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing How would you go about creating unity in a general crowd you didn’t know? What points would you highlight in a PTSD crowd you didn’t know? #PTSDchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @holisticff: @TruthPathing Sometimes all you need to do is be present, and let another open up when ready. It is know that the support is available is what can make the difference. Everyone heals in different ways. #ptsdchat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @TruthPathing A3 Unity builds community. Certainly you do not want people who would exploit rather than support to be included in the community. Many closed Facebook groups have rules about posting to their board. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing Next best thing to unity is sympathy - or empathy if you can sell it well enough. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @holisticff So true. #ptsdchat And Ibtjinknpatience and understanding are a refreshing change from a lot of everyday rushed situations, even related to treatment.
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing Also easier to form an outrage mob if you get the itch. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Let’s work to avoid that approach, but yes, common ground can be used in negative ways. #ptsdchat

Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing Next best thing to unity is sympathy - or empathy if you can sell it well enough. #PTSDChat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @TruthPathing First you would asked to be invited into the community, and then just observe for awhile. Once they become comfortable with your presence, begin to share your story in a vulnerable and authentic way. Ease your way through this process. #ptsdchat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff RT @TruthPathing: @bannedtweet Strength in unity creates cause for pause in those who might just saying anything. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet A3a) I think unity would be what we're striving for - a sort of Group Think about PTSD. A3b) When it comes to complex things, individuals are unpredictable, unless they're being manipulated. And even then they're not predictable for very long. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Sympathy, or better, empathy needs to be genuine. Some people do a hard sell, but it doesn’t work. #ptsdchat we need that heart and soul in people connecting with hurt people to be of help. It does wonders. Gives hope, starts the healing. People have to be safe/calm to heal.

The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing In college speech class, I gave a talk on Chemical Hypersensitivity. I sold it by making it personal. I made the case that soon everyone would be close to someone suffering with it (not that that came to pass). Later, I got students w/ questions about it. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet I like the “Group Think”. People can participate as they can, safely. We are all at different stages in healing. That is a good visual to see and learn from. We can all build on the accumulated information. #ptsdchat

Tim Grutzius @holisticff @TruthPathing @bannedtweet When one has PTSD there are trust issues that can be involved. A community like this one here needs genuine people that are trustworthy. #ptsdchat

Sue Wood @TruthPathing @holisticff @bannedtweet Definitely. #ptsdchat And we who are here regularly know each other and our approaches. We have to make sure others feel safe and welcome to speak their minds. We are open-minded about opinions and comments.
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @bannedtweet @TruthPathing So important to be personal - it is how one resonates with others who are still remaining in the shadows of the stigma associated with PTSD/MH. #ptsdchat

The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet A way to make PTSD personal for others is by removing it's exclusivity. Everyone has trauma. There's no bright line w/ PTSD on one side. Everyone has it but as degrees increase, functionality is crippled. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @holisticff @bannedtweet True. We also have to accept that some have to remain anonymous, and sometimes silent, but are still part of us. Other Watchers will eventually be able to speak when they are ready to. It is an individual process. #ptsdchat

Tim Grutzius @holisticff @bannedtweet Totally agree my friend - everyone has trauma, and may not have PTSD, but that does not lessen what they have been exposed to, any more that a person who has PTSD. #ptsdchat

Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet @holisticff Lol! Kate and Rebecca are the founders. My paraphrase was their idea of how this chat and all related should be run. We honor their hard work by keeping it this way. #ptsdchat

Tim Grutzius @holisticff @TruthPathing @bannedtweet From the echoes of the mind, a healing movement was formed #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet Good grief. Kate abandoned her PTSDChat account 4 years ago. Just how long have we been here? #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @holisticff: @TruthPathing @bannedtweet From the echoes of the mind, a healing movement was formed #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet @holisticff Yeah, I know about you! Lol! We need the humor, too! #ptsdchat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @bannedtweet @TruthPathing You are right though, @KateMcKenna28 is larger than life because it took alot of courage for her to come forward and share her story with the world. #ptsdchat

The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @holisticff @TruthPathing @KateMcKenna28 Yeah I don't actually know her story. I mean I read stuff she wrote but don't recall personal info. #PTSDChat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @bannedtweet @TruthPathing @KateMcKenna28 What she wrote was personal enough, about her time as a child during the African Bush Wars. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @holisticff @bannedtweet @KateMcKenna28 It sure did! She has dealt with a lot. Her story emboldens others to tell theirs. Each one of us has a story/experience that will help others. #PTSDchat

Tim Grutzius @holisticff @TruthPathing @bannedtweet @KateMcKenna28 And no one story is more important than the next. It is about the collective experience where we learn from each other. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @holisticff @TruthPathing @KateMcKenna28 It could also be my memory sucks or I'm just a narcissist at heart. #PTSDChat

The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @holisticff @TruthPathing @KateMcKenna28 Speak for yourself. I take pride in my lack of importance. #PTSDChat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @bannedtweet @TruthPathing @KateMcKenna28 I remember reading it on the website #ptsdchat
Tim Grutzius @holisticff @bannedtweet @TruthPathing @KateMcKenna28 🤪#ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @holisticff @bannedtweet @KateMcKenna28 True! Kate was the first one to tell me that! I didn’t think I belonged, or that my story was as strong as others’. She told me she heard that more times than she could count. She welcomed all to the early chats. #ptsdchat

Sue Wood @TruthPathing I think it was good to verbalize about unity. We have a lot of it here, all the time. I just hope that others feel that and join in when they want to, even adding to the conversation after the fact. #PTSDchat
Bren Comacchio @brencomacchio @holisticff @TruthPathing @bannedtweet @KateMcKenna28 I think we tend to look at what others have been through and view their trauma as "worse" than our own. I wonder if we do this as a form of self preservation, to attempt to diminish our own to make it "manageable" #PTSDChat

Sue Wood @TruthPathing @brencomacchio @holisticff @bannedtweet @KateMcKenna28 #PTSDchat I think that is one part of it. It also “honors their struggles”, in a sense. We don’t want to take time away from those who deservingly need it more. (Kin to the self-care rationalizations!).

The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @brencomacchio @holisticff @TruthPathing @KateMcKenna28 Well, we've already been thru what we've been thru. Going thru what other people went thru would suck even more. I think that shapes our perspective. #PTSDChat

The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @brencomacchio @holisticff @TruthPathing @KateMcKenna28 I think it's relative and we all have different strengths. Could I do the mangled body thing? Maybe but not while managing the challenges I have. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @brencomacchio @holisticff @bannedtweet @KateMcKenna28 It’s a combo of how we are put together, whether or not we expected what we saw (job-wise, which still shouldn’t have to be), the reliving of it, etc. Wish we understood so much more about it to be able to help more. #ptsdchat
