Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 I'm tweeting from a surprisingly dry Edinburgh tonight on the @physiotalk account #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk Hi there, Philip from the east midlands here, currently organising a virtual networking event so thanks for putting this on! #physiotalk
ACPSEM @physiosinsport all too easy to forget... we @physiosinsport are thrilled to be involved with @thecsp for #vpuk20 this year ➡️ (https://t.co/iYN91FPJJ7) and of course #physiotalk tonight https://t.co/T1ADzKs1Sz
Alice-physio @Alicephysio3 @physiotalk Hello. Alice in Hereford #physiotalk 🙂
ACPRC @TheACPRC @physiotalk Very happy to be here! and looking forward to the chat #physiotalk
ACPRC @TheACPRC RT @physiotalk:
ACPRC @TheACPRC RT @physiotalk:
ACPRC @TheACPRC Check out the two polls that have kicked off the tweetchat tonight #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @physiotalk No travel and accommodation costs for a start! #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk going to say ease of access, geographically and time - but maybe not technically sometimes! #physiotalk
The Learning Physiotherapist @TLPhysio @physiotalk Hello all. Physio team from Dublin - building a non profit online platform for physios to learn and connect with industry leaders. So excited to hear all tonight #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose @physiotalk Definitely ease of access, ability to have international representation (time zone allowing), reduced travel costs, less time away etc #physiotalk
The Learning Physiotherapist @TLPhysio @physiotalk On demand access to talks post event also a bonus #physiotalk
ACPSEM @physiosinsport @physiotalk offers advantages to our members whom might struggle traditionally with weekend conferences due to frequent commitments #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk @physiokatiek Dont know, I certainly 'know' about more as i wonder if they are marketed differently too?!? #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose @physiotalk @logan_angie Think that’s very variable but reduced costs may interest more those that previously may not have chosen certain courses. Think it’s also important to recongnise that just because it’s virtual doesn’t mean it’s free...still have tech costs, potentially speaker costs #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @logan_angie @physiotalk Before Covid I didn't tweet and certainly didn't know what a tweetdeck was! much better access to networks now. #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk @physiokatiek I am more social media savi and so I think that I see more networks delivering content and can access it more easily. in the past I wouldn't have seen it but would have discounted due to the 'costs' of attending. #physiotalk
ACPRC @TheACPRC @physiotalk potentially lower conference fees - got to factor in costs of tech/set up/expertise! but definitely no transport costs/accommodation costs/reduced food costs #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose @physiotalk Ability to be on at different time’s of day is very helpful and can be shorter as people aren’t travelling eg would you travel 200miles for a 2 hour webinar versus turning on computer and make a cup of tea #physiotalk
Rachel Wilson @R93wWilson @physiotalk @logan_angie #physiotalk needs to be agreed prior to attending plus special leave if during work hours normally. Normally fund travel or hotel costs but no the course itself a lot of the time. Also depends on banding
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @physiotalk Tech issues! Sitting still (if not encouraged to move) Reduced networking (although I'm looking forward to see how #physio20 might enable this...) #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk No face to face contact! #physiotalk
ACPSEM @physiosinsport @physiotalk Operational: so much staring at screen Professional: we have had responses from Members they REALLY miss out on the meeting with speakers, minutes with other members, conversations that organically spark alliances & potential research or CPD opportunities #physiotalk
Rachael (she/her) @BreathePhysio @physioNikitaM @physiotalk #physiotalk yes to this. International platform removes so many physical barriers.
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @theLDphysio @spiteri_anna @physiotalk I have actually gone back to watch a presentation I missed at #BGSconf #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk It is hard work connecting via a screen for long periods. but I find physical conferences tiring in a different way too. #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @DavidCooper_uk @physiotalk And no conference pens? #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose #physiotalk 🙄
Lucy Gdnr (She/her) @LucyGardinerPT @physiotalk Missing the serendipitous face-to-face networking and socialisation #physiotalk
The Learning Physiotherapist @TLPhysio @physiotalk Lack of colleague interaction. Some conferences try and mitigate loss with online chat rooms but hard over keyboard networking #physiotalk
Rachael (she/her) @BreathePhysio @theLDphysio @physiotalk Agree, miss the f2f friendly chats. #physiotalk
ACPRC @TheACPRC @physiotalk miss the face to face, issues with tech, potential for some to miss out due to tech not being up to date enough/have access to appropriate tech #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @JanetThomas47 @DavidCooper_uk @physiotalk very much this!!! #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk @theLDphysio The guys at @InBetaPhysio @bendotellis did this really well, and looking at the marketing for Physio20 - space for online networking and chance meet ups may be still possible?!? #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose @physiotalk Think that really depends on the nature of the course / conference and trying to make it as ‘normal’ as virtual can. A short webinar is fine on a basic platform but definitely good to have higher tech options for the larger events #physiotalk
The Learning Physiotherapist @TLPhysio @physiotalk Not necessarily high tech needed. Events that facilitate some level of interaction and reflection are most enjoyable and impactful #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @logan_angie @physiotalk Yes! I had stopped picking up free 'anything' from conferences unless it was really useful! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @RobYeldham @LucyGardinerPT @physiotalk I think so! I'm having late night wanders already in the virtual space and enjoying that! #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose @physiotalk Seen so many posts of avatars etc that better platforms are engaging people in other ways #physiotalk
ACPRC @TheACPRC #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @PaulTwose @physiotalk You mean like this :) #physiotalk https://t.co/eqe8lU14uF
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @bendotellis I think #physio20 is hopefully going to add to the networking opportunities? I hope so anyway #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @jillfromrhyl Definately, a different way of delivering hopefully gives an opportunity to re-evaluate what and how you want to do that. #physiotalk
ACPRC @TheACPRC This is a great question/point #physiotalk
ACPSEM @physiosinsport @physiotalk Context is Critical Many folk miss the interaction at these events with panels & speakers: just hasn't seemed same on Zoom or other 'webinar-styled' learning days Pre-Recorded can only be of value of used in small amounts on a day of otherwise interactive content #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose @physiotalk Also allows the sponsors etc a way of being involved #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk @jillfromrhyl @bendotellis I think it depends on what those putting on/attending want from the subject matter that is being delivered, Horses for courses? #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @physiotalk Probably yes Still a question of how much of course, but probably no different to in person conferences #physiotalk
Karen Middleton CBE (she/her) @KMiddleton60 RT @physiosinsport: all too easy to forget... we @physiosinsport are thrilled to be involved with @thecsp for #vpuk20 this year ➡️ (https://t.co/iYN91FPJJ7) and of course #physiotalk tonight https://t.co/T1ADzKs1Sz
Imogen Morrison @ib_morrison @physiotalk If there is the ability to replay the talks I think sometimes you are able to learn/take in more as you can reflect on what you’ve just heard and then listen again if you want #physiotalk
Prof Vicki Goodwin MBE @VickiG_physio @physiotalk Cramming things in so no time for a break and going on til early evening not practical for those with children to feed, and dogs to walk #physiotalk
The Learning Physiotherapist @TLPhysio @physiotalk More than likely yes. If engaged well by speaker but that is irrespective of virtual or in person event. Also with on demand time for reflection and going over content again #physiotalk
Imogen Morrison @ib_morrison @physiotalk Hi, physio student from Edinburgh 😁#physiotalk
ACPRC @TheACPRC @physiotalk the answer to this may develop over the next year as more people attend virtual conferences - the option to watch sessions again is likely to impact positively on learning #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @VickiG_physio @physiotalk This has been mentioned lots. The @InBetaPhysio unconference had lots of time to step away and interact with content in different ways felt really valuable. however i was able to engage during my commute which was fun! #physiotalk
ACPSEM @physiosinsport @physiophilip @physiotalk @jillfromrhyl @bendotellis Dependent on content and learning demands/outcomes There should be more opportunities for wider engagement from global perspective as geography less of an issue, tho multiple events contain similar speakers or topics, often from a highly developed Twitter following #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose #physiotalk
Ash James 💭 @ashjamesphysio @physiotalk Passive consumption of information won't lead to good learning or retention #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @TheACPRC @physiotalk again i think that depends on the quality of speaker, i have been to rubbish in person ones, I wonder if the volume of them dilutes the quality? #physiotalk
Imogen Morrison @ib_morrison @physiotalk Maybe a little less than in person perhaps due to no venue cost? If it’s the same teaching/amount of content then the only difference will be the venue #physiotalk
Joe Middleton @_JoeMiddleton Ahead of presenting at #vPUK20 , this is what #physiotalk is doing to me this evening! https://t.co/N1TjfT95Bh
Rachel Wilson @R93wWilson @physiotalk No travel costs for speakers and no need to book venues/provide food but less opportunity for sponsorship to ease costs #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @TPMPodcast @physiotalk Virtual or not! I have been known to sleep talk ahead of a conference I've organised #stressful #physiotalk
ɹǝʇlnoԀ pıʌɐᗡ 🚴🏻 🇺🇸 🇦🇺 🇬🇧 @Retlouping @physiotalk How much do we value the content? What do F2F charges include? If virtual costs less to run then yes it should be reflected in the price offered to participants. #physiotalk
Prof Vicki Goodwin MBE @VickiG_physio @physiotalk @bendotellis I've been going to conferences all over the world for years and although the opportunity to travel was great, I'm now losing interest. They are getting repetitive. I'm also much more environmentally aware and am liking not having to travel. #physiotalk
ACPSEM @physiosinsport @physiotalk @physiophilip @jillfromrhyl @bendotellis The future will involve digital learning for certain: that local stimulus could be serviced in this way as a group perhaps, even with an international speaker or panel, or perhaps a revamped modern journal club?! We are open to being open to these PLUS traditional #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @bendotellis @physiosinsport @physiotalk @jillfromrhyl They should be thinking about want the stakeholders want from their content, shouldn't they? i feel there is less 'responsibility' for learning. that feels more down to the attendee. #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @hayleymcalvert @TPMPodcast @physiotalk Oh you should! That's why they have events managers - but its just us mad physios that do it all ourselves... #physiotalk
ACPRC @TheACPRC @physiotalk Tricky one! depends what you are comparing it to - a conference that provides food etc then no, but one where you dont get 'added extras' you need to factor in cost of speakers, tech, set up etc #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose @bendotellis @TheACPRC @physiotalk Much harder to do at home, and the temptation is always there to pop out for a bit etc or to help with the kids but that does hamper the learning experience #physiotalk
Ieuan Ellis 🎓🏃🏴 🌍 @Prof_IeuanEllis Yes. There is no going back and the future of all forms of professional learning, networking and working will be blended #physiotalk
ACPRC @TheACPRC @physiotalk think this is definitely a good idea as virtual option can be more accessible for all, but nice to have the choice #physiotalk
The Learning Physiotherapist @TLPhysio @physiotalk Yes if organisationally possible... allows content to reach a greater audience, promotes dynamic content delivery and recorded task on a platform allow attendees to reaccess at a later date #physiotalk
Imogen Morrison @ib_morrison @physiotalk Definitely! Makes them a lot more accessible ~ not everyone can travel to them and could allow for more accessibility to those who have other commitments or can’t physically/mentally go to in person conferences #physiotalk
Paul Twose @PaulTwose @physiotalk Very tricky. Honestly don’t know how much the tech costs but needs to be covered and suspect less sponsorship available for virtual. But cost to individual is reduced without travel and accommodation so overall is cheaper #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk I think so, i think the next step would be to offer blended approaches where both are available, will add complexity but i can see there being win wins from it. #physiotalk
Rachel Wilson @R93wWilson @physiotalk Yes. A lot of conferences based in larger cities i.e. London, Manchester, Glasgow which could be miles from where many are based. CPD should be easily accessible for all not just those it’s close to #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk there is an annual UK wide networking event i am involved with. I would like to see it hub and spoke, there is a central place for delivery but regional groups could gather to 'attend' virtually in there locality. #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47 @physiotalk I look like this...* Yes - no wrinkles but the same grey hair! #physiotalk *Other @physiotalk team members WILL look different https://t.co/iEdDQjA2kD
ACPRC @TheACPRC @physiotalk Thanks so much! was great! lots of comments to look through #physiotalk
Physiophilip @physiophilip @physiotalk Thanks everyone, as always far too fast for my but lots to think about! #physiotalk
ACPRC @TheACPRC Same here - come and find us at stand D33! #Physiotalk #physio20
Physiophilip @physiophilip @bendotellis @jillfromrhyl @PaulTwose @TheACPRC @physiotalk I was able to do a wide range of stuff throughout @bendotellis. however i did feel i was jumping in and out a little so would have liked to have given myself more time to reflect on the content. #physiotalk
ACPSEM @physiosinsport @hayleymcalvert @physiotalk hiring costs are not just physical by any means #physiotalk as others are mentioning there are 'costs' associated with establishing the digital nature of the setup to ensure the content can be delivered
Physiophilip @physiophilip @bendotellis @physiosinsport @physiotalk @jillfromrhyl I attend conferences to learn, how that comes about, as you hint, can be very different. #physiotalk |
