hello from Fife, Scotland. Multitasking during kids bathtime, and waiting for snow!#physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
I'm on the @physiotalk account tonight from a still cold Edinburgh! #physiotalk

The latest #physiotalk is underway...
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk #physiotalk we are pretty consistent with an IST programme, that we are able to shape during team discussion. Some gaps with CV19 influence last year, but an added bonus of training opportunities with staff redeployed to us sharing their expertise!
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk #physiotalk this is reassuring!
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk #physiotalk being honest I've not been very proactive at seeking out opportunities - but our management have generally been supportive of appropriate external training (online etc) where staffing levels permit (which is no different from normal).
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@Sallylk @physiotalk #physiotalk think we've relied heavilly on learnpro modules or teams meetings for mandatory training.

@physiotalk #physiotalk this has been a challenge this year, think i was pretty good with documenting onto TURAS directly, until about October. Need to get caught up from notes and papers 'filed' in my work bag and diary....hence my motivation to join in tonight - a kick up the backside!

@physiotalk I try to make sure I've done at least a couple of things a month. This can be major conferences or a short patient facing reflection on reasoning. (Or there are two #physiotalk each month as well of course!)
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@Sallylk @physiotalk Yes - my two things a month are the things I try to reflect on and document fully. The diary is full of other things that are part of CPD - such as IST, tweetchats, reading etc! #physiotalk
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@Sallylk @physiotalk #physiotalk I've been jotting in the diary since the start of the year - just need to translate it to a reflective account....that's the hard bit! Once a month routine sounds quite a nice idea....maybe last week of the month or something.
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@Sallylk @physiotalk I'm currently reading a chapter a night of my new book for example! #physiotalk https://t.co/gG6QsOlsyu
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@physiotalk I do love a conference - but its more for the networking at times! The @GeriSoc conferences are great and I've taken part in some of their other online activities this year as well. Its specific to my patient population which is important to me #physiotalk
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk I love a case study/presentation with the PT team to see different approaches to the same patient. But I also love to speak to other MDT members - hearing on how we can dove tail approaches to maximise impact. Reflecting on that answer it's quite F2F focused! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@physiotalk @NatashaHinwood @GeriSoc Sorry -sent from wrong account! #physiotalk
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk @NatashaHinwood @JanetThomas47 @GeriSoc #physiotalk i have to say the sound of this puts me off....watching or listening to a presentation online - ok - can't get my head around the networking bit over a computer. Maybe just not for me. Or i need to find an inexpensive way of trying it out 😄😂
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@physiotalk Not sure if this counts as 'planning' but I make sure that I Tweetchat (of course!) Read regularly Plan a conference or two a year (@AGILECSP @WorldPhysio1951 @thecsp @GeriSoc usually) Listen to podcasts on my walks (@MDTea_podcast @TPMPodcast ) #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@physiotalk @AGILECSP @WorldPhysio1951 @thecsp @GeriSoc @MDTea_podcast @TPMPodcast Plus of course our IST, journal clubs and NHS mandatory training I'm luck in that I get input from more than one workplace as well! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@susancotton18 @physiotalk @NatashaHinwood @GeriSoc But the coffee is great, no queues for the toilet and you can see the presentations clearly without craning your neck if you are at the back! #physiotalk

Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@JanetThomas47 @physiotalk @NatashaHinwood @GeriSoc You're selling it well @JanetThomas47 maybe it's the added homeschool computer screens I'm exposed to right now that are the real turn off 😂 it's all online! Nothing is real!! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
You may be right! No home schooling for me - but I do spend quite a bit of time in front of a screen for @QMUPhysio of course! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@katysmith8319 @physiotalk @AGILECSP @WorldPhysio1951 @thecsp @GeriSoc @MDTea_podcast @TPMPodcast Podcasts are great! We use them at work as well - listen to them during an IST time and then can discuss together (whilst remaining 2m apart of course...) #physiotalk
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk #physiotalk I don't plan well. Rely on my colleages to suggest varied IST at work - agree with @JanetThomas47 the @MDTea_podcast have great variety. Must try harder to be proactive at deciding what to look out for.
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@katysmith8319 @physiotalk @AGILECSP @WorldPhysio1951 @thecsp @GeriSoc @MDTea_podcast @TPMPodcast We listened to the @MDTea_podcast on Osteoporosis a couple of weeks ago. Advantage is that anyone not there that day can also listen to it as well later on (or at any time that suits..) #physiotalk
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk #physiotalk i try and make a point with any cpd of highlighting - what will i do as a result of this, and why - not always an indication to work differently.
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@physiotalk I'm sure it has. Nothing striking, but a gradual change in practice from an accumulation of knowledge I wonder? #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@physiotalk Although there have been some 'I must do that on Mon' moments of course! Perhaps more from hands on such as vestibular rehab courses / conferences with practical skills from @acpivr #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@physiotalk I use the @thecsp ePortfolio system. I have a section for each part of my KSF so that I can link directly to my learning Love that I can upload pdfs and even videos directly to the system And share it with my manager who isn't a physio with a 'secret link!' #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@physiotalk Many podcasts have show notes and proformas you can use to record your learning #physiotalk
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk #physiotalk it's finding a way that works for you. Have heard of a few platforms, or even just linking google docs. I did really love my paper folder...😳 it's taken me probably 2 year to come close to having a system that work for me...
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk #physiotalk. The HCPC did some useful webinars as well - I'm sure they're still available.
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk #physiotalk I WILL log into my CPD tomorrow and log this CPD activity. @JanetThomas47 ask me on Wednesday if I did please!! 😂
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@susancotton18 @physiotalk It will be the first thing I ask!! #physiotalk
Susan Cotton @susancotton18
@physiotalk #physiotalk it makes me feel old 😂
