@meh_anon It's normally active on Sundays 4PM EST in the US / 9PM GMT in the UK. Respective Daylight Saving Times alter that depending which country is on that schedule. People also use #BPDchat outside of the Sunday activity. Hope that's helpful.

I think it can help if you're aware when you're emotionally upset. Try: Rating the intensity of your emotion, for 1 to 10 (10 is high). If your at 6 or higher, if possible wait until your emotion diminishes & you can think clearly. (Use skills to bring yourself down). #BPDChat

DBT suggests there are 3 states of mind: rational mind, emotion mind, and Wise Mind. Wise Mind combines the best of rational (logical) mind and emotional mind. #BPDChat

Some times are good times to be in "emotion mind" - dancing, for instance. Some times are good times to be in "logical mind" - adding up your expenses, for instance. #BPDchat

It's difficult to make a good decision when emotions are involved. I use a 24 hour delay rule in those cases, 48 hours if the emotions are really high. It's less avoidance than wanting to be clear headed and having time to evaluate the situation. #BPDchat

The goal of being in Wise Mind is to improve your life. I like to think of Wise Mind as the state of relaxed alertness. Being mindful and making good decisions. #BPDChat
