PF Anderson @pfanderson@disabled.social @pfanderson @tcshields ROFL! For users, yeah. For me? No way. Do NOT take away the tool that gives me the most control over process/results & the most replicability. Other scientists learn how to use complicated tools for their work. #medlibs can, too.
PF Anderson @pfanderson@disabled.social @pfanderson @mehlibrarian @MedLibMolly @tcshields The first interfaces I learned don’t even exist anymore. I think I’m on 5 or 6 now for MEDLINE, more if you count websearch interfaces. #medlibs
PF Anderson @pfanderson@disabled.social @pfanderson @LindyRexie @tcshields Ditto. Primarily because of precision and replicability. Also adjacency and NOT operand. #medlibs
PF Anderson @pfanderson@disabled.social @pfanderson RT @tcshields: @crbishop If I can be nosy... what kind of searches do you typically do? Systematic reviews, clinical questions, research support, for publication, etc. My theory is that #medlibs prefer interface in part based on search/question/user/setting e.g., academic lib with lots of SRs, Ovid.
PF Anderson @pfanderson@disabled.social @pfanderson RT @tcshields: potentially inflammatory and controversial opinion: potentially inflammatory and controversial opinion: #medlibs who prefer Ovid interface for Medline, Embase, PsycINFO, etc. are masochists. Advocating for and perpetuating the use of that interface, especially for non-librarian users, borders on malpractice and is downright evil.
