Rural Medicine Australia 2013 will be held at the Cairns Convention Centre from 31 October to 2 November. This year, the inaugural World Summit on Rural Generalist Medicine will coincide with Rural Medicine Australia 2013. On Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 October, rural doctors from around the worwill meet with health planners, policy makers, researchers and educators to celebrate, share and plan for the future of generalism in health care. At a time of increasing challenge for health systems across the world, generalist medicine is a critical strategy in achieving equity in health care, especially for rural and remote communities.
