Health Information Week @Healthinfoweek
Hi I'm Louisa part of the #HIW2018 project team and ahealth librarian in Shropshire #ukmedlibs
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
And please introduce yourselves with a tweet to the chat #ukmedlibs. A special welcome to the #HIW2018 project group
Lindsay Snell @LindsaySnell
Lindsay Snell, Clinical Librarian, Derby Teaching Hospitals. Hello :-) #ukmedlibs @UKMedLibs
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
An account to follow! #ukmedlibs https://t.co/b0uPclZmSm
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
And the #HIW2018 team have prepared some questions to stimulate discussion, so I’ll throw the first in: Have you ever taken part in HIW activities? #ukmedlibs
Lindsay Snell @LindsaySnell
Q1 yes, but to be honest I can't remember when or what we did :-( #ukmedlibs
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
Keep the introductions coming, and start talking about the questions, if you would #ukmedlibs
Heather Steele @HeatherBake
Hello #ukmedlibs I'm Heather, Library and Knowledge Lead at LYPFT @lypftlib I'll be mostly lurking as I've just got in from parents' evening at my little's nursery and I'm just having tea! #HIW2018
Louisa Fulbrook @louisalibrarian
#ukmedlibs must admit I hadn't before being involved in this project. The library hasn't engaged directly with patient and public until recently
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
@HeatherBake I think that’s the case for a number of us #ukmedlibs
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
Good point… important and helpful to hear about cross-sectoral work, either in past years or for #HIW2018 #ukmedlibs https://t.co/C0cWwgYQrZ
Lindsay Snell @LindsaySnell
@liberkiely That sounds great :-) #UKMedLibs
Health Information Week @Healthinfoweek
#ukmedlibs There are a number of case studies of events from last year on the knowledge for healthcare website which is open to all at https://t.co/bDsHiSB052 under the patient and public information tab
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
And I’ll bring in Q2: Do you have plans for HIW2018? #ukmedlibs
Potenza Atiogbe @potenzakanley

Potenza Atiogbe @potenzakanley

Lindsay Snell @LindsaySnell
Q2 #HIW2018 will be doing a session on evaluating patient info for Trust members meeting in October #ukmedlibs

Alison Anne Moore @alisonamoore681

Heather Steele @HeatherBake
@janetsampson33 @rschlibrary @UKMedLibs @hjsnhslks I'm sure we can #ukmedlibs
Lindsay Snell @LindsaySnell
Q3 yes, it has some great ideas, which we've used. Good to have national #HIW2018 branding as well #ukmedlibs
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
That’s a point: are the project group planning a write-up/publication afterwards? #ukmedlibs https://t.co/qRHlprrbQJ
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
Q4 is have you used the toolkit to help plan your activities; I think a lot of you are already answering that #ukmedlibs
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
Lots of new people participating in #ukmedlibs tonight. Welcome, one and all. We’re at the half-way point, more or less
Potenza Atiogbe @potenzakanley

Louisa Fulbrook @louisalibrarian
#ukmedlibs Q5 I have increased my network both within and outside of my Trust in the planning of activities for #HIW2018 so very beneficial!

RT @RuthCarlyle:

Q7 What (if any) difficulties have you encountered from participating in HIW? #ukmedlibs (Lots of these questions are connected….so don’t feel too constrained by them)

@liberkiely That sounds great :-) Am guessing patients would really appreciate it! Do you have any feedback or is it too early? #UKMedLibs
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
On Q7, several of you have already mentioned time and staffing constraints. Any clever ways of overcoming these? #ukmedlibs
Health Information Week @Healthinfoweek
Absolutely Emily! #ukmedlibs https://t.co/rV1WDZqI5J
Potenza Atiogbe @potenzakanley
#UKMedLibs q5 like others a great way to form different partnerships. We have formed closer working with the league of friends and one of the volunteers comes to @esthLISeducat to do a weekly knitting session which is great for well-being can’t find the article link :-(.
Lindsay Snell @LindsaySnell
Q7 Difficulties - public library are moving during #HIW2018 so aren't able to do as much as they would like #ukmedlibs

Lindsay Snell @LindsaySnell
@UKMedLibs colleagues have been really helpful with time, skills, and contacts (although I'm aware smaller teams may not have as many people to help) #UKMedLibs
Potenza Atiogbe @potenzakanley
#ukmedlibs starting very early works well. So we knew the date for #HIW2018 last year and had some ideas about what we wanted to do. The toolkit was released early so that helped. Made contact with departments early. Kept it as a standing agenda item at library meetings https://t.co/n69XGbYNiX
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
Q7 Who are your best partners? [I *may* have muddled the question numbers just now] #ukmedlibs
Potenza Atiogbe @potenzakanley
That is brilliant that Comms drafted the press release and set up Eventbrite great stuff. #ukmedlibs q7 https://t.co/yYLLuIde44
Health Information Week @Healthinfoweek
@janetsampson33 @UKMedLibs We were up against it with our project unfortunately but I guess the toolkit will stay there now for future use and can be added to and updated. #ukmedlibs

Q8 Sounds odd but I'm reminded of how much good information there is out there for patients #UKMedLibs
Doug Knock @KnockDoug
@UKMedLibs Yes I was finding it useful earlier today. Good list of useful sites. Didn't realise #HIW2018 started in 2005! #ukmedlibs
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs
And, last question, Q9, do you evaluate HIW – how? #ukmedlibs
Bibliosophus @Bibliosophus
RT @RuthCarlyle:
Potenza Atiogbe @potenzakanley
#ukmedlibs q8 Yes, creativity and being able to do really different things to showcase the library. We are also trying to engage passerbys with our #Graffiti board so people can make a healthy pledge and feel like they are part of the week. #HIW2018 really made us think https://t.co/kHDWcNd5cw
Natasha @natashaswork
@UKMedLibs Yes - last year we did a couple of partnership events with our local public library (@WFlibraries) to promote reliable sources of health information. #Ukmedlibs
Lindsay Snell @LindsaySnell
@KnockDoug @UKMedLibs #UKMedLibs would be interested to see the quiz - would you be happy to share it after #HIW2018?
Natasha @natashaswork
@UKMedLibs We are setting up a health literacy display/stand in the Trust HQ foyer & doing a promotional stand with Wakefield public libraries in the main hospital foyer. #Ukmedlibs
Natasha @natashaswork
@UKMedLibs Yes! #Ukmedlibs
Health Information Week @Healthinfoweek
In case you haven't looked yet there are evaluation cards you can adapt on the https://t.co/GZOkAcXDln page under patient and public information. There is one for attendees and one for organisers #ukmedlibs
Doug Knock @KnockDoug
@UKMedLibs Ask me in the 2nd week of July! Trying some regional (sub-regional) collaboration for first time but I know some SLLIB partners have been active before #HIW2018 #ukmedlibs

Q9 Not before, but was very happy to see the #HIW2018 toolkit evaluation forms at #HLG2018 last week, as had been thinking about how to measure impact #UKMedLibs
Natasha @natashaswork
@UKMedLibs Q5: #HIW is a good opportunity to get out of the library, promote the service & Work in partnership with local partners (public libraries etc) #Ukmedlibs
UKMedLibs @UKMedLibs

Doug Knock @KnockDoug
@janetsampson33 @UKMedLibs Definitely. Needs a bit tweaking but I suspect the key element is a healthy lure (fitbit) as a prize. We were going to share costs but found a generous donor #HIW2018 #ukmedlibs
