RT @KylaTerhune: @CelesteHollands This is great actually advice for all of these questions-- exercise, eating well, fatigue management, reading, preparing for clinic--- as John Tarpley used to tell us: Get in the habit of having good habits! #AWSchat #DearIntern #Tipsfornewdocs

RT @TaniaKArora: @KylaTerhune @WomenSurgeons I like them all (it’s a problem) I used greenfield, as I got older the ICU book, Cameron’s, and as an attending I go to more specialty books... some of which are online through the library. #dearintern stick with one good book at a time. #awschat #TipsForNewDocs

What a great #AWSchat. Wish some of these pieces of advice were as readily available when I was an intern. Thanks @KylaTerhune for moderating & great collab. by @WomenSurgeons & @RASACS #DearIntern #TipsforNewDocs

RT @LillianErdahlMD: #AWSchat yes, the team needs to be strategic. We used to leapfrog on dressing change intensive services. One intern stayed behind to dress the last patient’s wound & the next went with the team. the Patient is cared for & an intern knows about every patient plan. #TipsForNewDocs https://t.co/r2br23on5n

Final thought: Intern year is one of those formative years for all of us-- learn from those before you and share with those to come! Thanks to everyone for your contributions! So much great advice. I will eat healthier tomorrow. #AWSchat #DearIntern #Tipsfornewdocs

@WomenSurgeons @RASACS @AfifKulaylat #AWSChat My favorite is Cameron’s! I came to it late but wish that I had used it from the start. Excellent short sections and an easy but high yield read. Thx for asking!

Amazing #TipsForNewDocs most of all, remember that you are never alone. Find your tribe and ask for help. If you ever need help outside your immediate team, reach out to @RASACS @WomenSurgeons #AWSchat

@WomenSurgeons #awschat Final thought: Intern year, and residency, is not always sunshine and happy days. Remember that there is always some form of support, whether at your institution or on a platform like this with @WomenSurgeons and @RASACS. You're not alone. We are all in this together.

@WomenSurgeons A1 #AWSChat gen surg resident in 3rd year of research (:-\) -- this may sound weird but I spent several hours wandering around central supply in the OR learning about threads, needles, colors of stapler loads etc... gave me confidence asking for instruments when the time came!

RT @TaniaKArora: @WomenSurgeons I still live by The checkboxes in my day to day. Can’t remember it all. I keep it on paper- still satisfying to cross it off #dearintern #TipsForNewDocs #awschat

@WomenSurgeons Thank you @WomenSurgeons @RASACS & @KylaTerhune for this wonderful chat. I might not be an intern but I learned some new tips! #DearIntern if you remember one thing from this chat: enjoy the process! You will learn more than you ever imagined! #AWSchat

@AZWalls @WomenSurgeons Q4A #AWSchat On slower days/nights I would walk up and down the stairs in the hospital... 10 flights from basement to the heli-pad; also, check with seniors/attendings but on most services totally reasonable to wander outside - don't have to be stuck in the call room!
