@JHospMedicine Encourage: As a student my med school had days called ‘Suffering in Silence’ & ‘Mental Illness Among Us’ where med students shared their experiences of mental illness with their class. This made me feel safe to talk about mental illness in medicine as an early trainee. #JHMChat

A1. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of stigma around needing help. Doctors are expected to be superhumans! Medical culture says: Doctor w/ mental illness = weak doctor = unable to care for patients. This discourages us from even admitting that we have a problem. #JHMChat

My program was ok but we had ~30 ppl per class. Not easy to swing coverage if you only have 5-10 per class (also depending on specialty)🙃 #JHMChat
