@JHospMedicine @NdidiUnaka @gradydoctor #JHMChat Can't remember all of the times I've encountered it, but I remember the moment when I realized it was my role to address it - a patient called the aide a racial slur in front of the team, and I was a first year attending. @JHospMedicine @NdidiUnaka @gradydoctor #JHMChat: A more subtle form of racism that I now wish I addressed better as a fellow was seeing a patient’s bellybutton Confederate Flag ring. I was very uncomfortable examining the patient and can’t imagine how her black nurse felt.
