@JHospMedicine Forgot the A1... Also, with the pandemic and other admission flow... patient care has felt overwhelming between COVID surges and just feeling like the hospital is always full. There is always a need for the work of hospital medicine. Sometimes I'm exhausted #JHMChat
Anika Kumar, MD (she/her) @freckledpedidoc
@aoglasser @DRsonosRD @JHospMedicine The statistician is covered by our Peds dept’s research budget & investigators have to request time. They have guidelines for pre-publication/pre-meeting submission time requirements. It’s quite nice, actually #JHMChat

Sonya Tang Girdwood 鄧 智佳, MD, PhD @STangGirdwood
@AnnieAndrewsMD @JHospMedicine Yep, I completely see the temptation of putting your work out as a pre-print because i have definitely had papers that took nearly 2 years from first submission to publication. The process is so long for peer review but I know why as a reviewer too. #JHMChat
Dr. Annie Andrews @AnnieAndrewsMD

@JHospMedicine A1: boy, so many. 1. figuring out where to submit, often felt the work that was done not worthy anywhere (result sucks). 2. Finding the time to write 3. in general feeling the poor command of English when attempt at writing (i'm ESL) #JHMChat

@adsumarsono @ErinShaughness4 @JHospMedicine Not all the committee members are from HM. Probably only 1/3-1/2 are. Your committee members should be made up of folks from other divisions or even institutions who have expertise in the areas of your scholarly pursuits. This way, it’s not overwhelming to your division. #JHMchat

@ruben4arelav @NdidiUnaka @ETSshow @aoglasser @JHospMedicine Reach metrics and metrics of engagement in advocacy are helpful. How many people did something as a result of your advocacy? Did you move action is the outcome but there’s a lot before that. We use this all the time for documenting impact at @IMPACT4HC #jhmchat @evebmd

@adsumarsono @JHospMedicine It can be daunting for a large group. We strategically started with folks within 2-3 years of promotion, with a plan to spread to more after those got started. I love serving on CDCs (share experience, learn from others, help folks avoid my mistakes- what’s not to like!) #JHMChat

@WrayCharles @FutureDocs @JHospMedicine @blairgolden Too true! But every project finds a home, somewhere, & recognizing that the 'destination' for the project may not necessarily be a peer-reviewed pub is part of the process. Sometimes, you need to know when to 'call it' too & pivot to a new destination - blog/poster/oped? #JHMChat
