Q1: My pre-healthcare career was all in the B2C arena so I always think of healthcare as a consumer first. The internet has changed the health equation and shifted responsibility (some), patient voice and expectations to a consumer mindset. #KareoChat https://t.co/weRERWa2mY

Consumer driven healthcare typically involves and some sort of pre-tax payment account. Patients may feel more engaged with their healthcare when they cut out the middle step by directing their own monetary resources. #KareoChat

@GoKareo A2- Current state is it could be better from both sides. Are the docs meeting patients where their attention is (mobile phones/social media?). Text reminders? Portal properly being utilized? Do you really want to know patient opinion or just sending non personal survey #kareochat

@drtom_kareo A3 #kareochat as most of the 'problems' happen outside of the office encounter, this type of thinking will lead to readmissions/increased ED visits. Many providers brining in some type of call system that allows the patient/family to call when questions/problems occur #proactive

A4. Increased patient engagement through tech tools will increase ownership of decisions, which then increases compliance with the healthcare plan. Also, in cases like @GetSocialHealth , patients will be able to help educate providers on new or rare conditions. #KareoChat

@GoKareo A3 - I'm all about removing friction from the process. That engages me. Telehealth is amazing. No waiting in an urgent care for hours. Quick phone call/video chat. Or email my provider a question if a visit is necessary or not. SoMe can be good and bad (ex Mayo v CNN) #kareochat

@GoKareo A4-back to removing the friction. Making it easier to visit and engage should help wi compliance and preventative health. Place patient education where their attention is. Love the idea of removing the wait room with things like triage from home for non emergent issues #kareochat

@drtom_kareo Think like a patient. What they need is empathy, education, and time to understand the process. It is that simple......we need to get outside of ourselves and think like a patient/caregiver. #kareochat. As I say, the system is set up for the system not the end user.
