The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing I've noticed PTSD feelings/reactions that I've tamed - aren't tame any more while driving. And I'm not the only one. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing I've noticed PTSD feelings/reactions that I've tamed - aren't tame any more while driving. And I'm not the only one. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Interesting! What does this cause? What do you do about it? #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Who besides you? #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing Well, it isn't all bad. Stepping back - the downside of less lashing out is that the causes aren't as available for self-study. That can be a problem because they'll always be with us. Here, road rage is a convenient reminder that there isn't a solution, only progress #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Summer has an effect on a lot of things. Seasons have an effect all the time anyway. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing We have snowbirds all winter long so our triggers are year round. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet What are the best and worst PTSD-related things you are dealing with? #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing We have snowbirds all winter long so our triggers are year round. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet We have had unusually mild weather for a couple weeks. That makes a difference with tempers not flaring. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing I think the cause is feelings of helplessness. We are effectively trapped, mostly by whoever is in front of us. And most drivers are thoughtless, autopilots, exercising some skill but little consideration. Unlike a crowded room, we can't elbow our way out of traffic. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet It is difficult not to let outside influences creep in and change what is a more balanced time to a shaky one again. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet I have noticed dealing with more unfamiliar people has really gotten my attention. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing How so? #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Some people can be the most negative influences of all. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing I think the cause is feelings of helplessness. We are effectively trapped, mostly by whoever is in front of us. And most drivers are thoughtless, autopilots, exercising some skill but little consideration. Unlike a crowded room, we can't elbow our way out of traffic. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet That’s true. #ptsdchat We are trapped. It is the lack of freedom and control . We end up being on other people’s schedules.
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing Well, it isn't all bad. Stepping back - the downside of less lashing out is that the causes aren't as available for self-study. That can be a problem because they'll always be with us. Here, road rage is a convenient reminder that there isn't a solution, only progress #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet And it takes each individual’s self-control. The odds are not good. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Others take it to a dangerous level. Done don’t ever see themselves as even part of the problem. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing I think it reinforces my universal theory of bad behavior - that it stems from feelings of helplessness. That it persists behind the wheel while tamped down elsewhere is interesting. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Some don’t, That is. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing I think it reinforces my universal theory of bad behavior - that it stems from feelings of helplessness. That it persists behind the wheel while tamped down elsewhere is interesting. #PTSDChat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing "You win at road rage Dad." - my son. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet #PTSDchat There’s something to that. Then we r figuring out how to stop the panic from turning aggressive. Bolt and run is a natural response to panic.
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing How so? #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet The “what if” abs “what if not” get geared up, then the worth can set in. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing And "If only" for other people. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Worry, sets in, that is. #ptsdchat (there’s going to be panic re typing skills in a min! Lol!)
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing "You win at road rage Dad." - my son. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Oh, lovely! Generational opportunities that shouldn’t happen! #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet So do you discuss it w him as to what you could change and how he can avoid road rage when he drives? #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing And "If only" for other people. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing What would you suggest as a way to stop the underlying panic that leads to road rage or anything else like it? How do you stop (or not start) with road rage? #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet So my other point: Things may get better but history is history. It'll never be anything other than what happened. I may handle situations better. I may live an adjusted life. I'll never be rid of the past, just not it's prisoner. History is like a feature of the land. #PTSDChat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing Oh we talk all the time about it. I don't defend my behavior & have been clear when I'm unhappy w/ my choices. Usefully, I'm also clear when & how I rise above the traps. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing #ptsdchat They say two things create our actions. Abundance and lack. If we perceive Abundance, we operate from gratitude & that affects everything positively. Lack creates the feeling we have to fight to survive. Everyone is then r competition & we react accordingly.
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: So my other point: Things may get better but history is history. It'll never be anything other than what happened. I may handle situations better. I may live an adjusted life. I'll never be rid of the past, just not it's prisoner. History is like a feature of the land. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet True & we need to maintain that awareness. But if you have made a change, that counts in your favor, & makes things better for those around you. #ptsdchat Can’t discount that.
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing Oh we talk all the time about it. I don't defend my behavior & have been clear when I'm unhappy w/ my choices. Usefully, I'm also clear when & how I rise above the traps. #PTSDChat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing If everyone else would simply rise to my perceived level of excellence then everything would be just fine. I still expect slack on my bad days tho. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Honesty, not denial. His seeing that in you is one of the best lessons he could get. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing I do but I think it's more efficient to make progress while momentum is here and take stock later when things have run out of steam. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet We can look honestly st the part, but we don’t have to live there. #ptsdchat We can honor the changes we’ve made. We don’t have to drop our guard as to how things used to be.
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing I do but I think it's more efficient to make progress while momentum is here and take stock later when things have run out of steam. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet When you’re “on a roll”, use it to your advantage. Agreed. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing If everyone else would simply rise to my perceived level of excellence then everything would be just fine. I still expect slack on my bad days tho. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet #PTSDchat Lol! Everyone else is “believing for” the same thing!
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing I don't have a problem saying I was out of control or someone could have been hurt because of it. Shortcomings are part of life as are consequences BTW: My orig reason for preemptively owning up was so secrets couldn't be used against me. Paranoia is my vigilant friend #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing I don't have a problem saying I was out of control or someone could have been hurt because of it. Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Funny that it worked so well to actually put you in a good/much better place. From that location, you can better help yourself and others. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing Everything is better and worse than people say it is. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet One of the biggest problems out there, which completely blocks healing, is that so many would rather be right, or seem right, no matter how much the truth needs to be distorted to attain that. And seemingly, that “skill” is being widely taught. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing Everything is better and worse than people say it is. #PTSDChat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing Yep. Zero sum. Only winners aren't losers. If there was disordered thinking that needed treatment, it's that. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet People are so busy fighting each other & keeping up appearances, & belittling each other, there is no time for anything else. Bottom line - No self-respect & no respect for others. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing The point of what we are doing here is to help with healing. Our own & others. U made an important point about origins of rage. The why’s lead to the how to change/heal. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing Oddly. It was losing at politics at church, that finally broke me free of that thinking. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing Yep. Zero sum. Only winners aren't losers. If there was disordered thinking that needed treatment, it's that. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing Oddly. It was losing at politics at church, that finally broke me free of that thinking. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet What was the actual breaking point? That last straw? #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet And, how do you make that change, and show up in front of the same people who have been watching all along, as the “new you”? How does that feel (range of emotions)? Is there any humiliation or “shyness” from the new you early on? #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing I can't name one thing that happened but I can say what happened next. I was a Scoutmaster and was fraudulently signing blue cards for activities I never witnessed - because that was the only thing that the more manipulative scout leader/parents wanted me to do. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing I like to get a preview of things before being a participant. Assuming others are the same in that, I’m asking you for behavioral previews & step-by-step answers. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing I can't name one thing that happened but I can say what happened next. I was a Scoutmaster and was fraudulently signing blue cards for activities I never witnessed - because that was the only thing that the more manipulative scout leader/parents wanted me to do. #PTSDChat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing The "new me" was a simmering pot of rage for a few years. I wasn't overly concerned about anyone who was watching me. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet But that was not who you were, or who you became. Sounds like a break from a type of dishonesty led you. #ptsdchat Was the honesty at the core & couldn’t deal w the dishonesty anymore?
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet You had to grow to a certain level to make these statements of accuracy against yourself, especially publicly. I would like to know the step-by-step of that at some time. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing The "new me" was a simmering pot of rage for a few years. I wasn't overly concerned about anyone who was watching me. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Is there one sentence that could describe the rage/reasons for it? Aimed at you or others, or both? #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing I don't think that's quite right because I don't think dishonesty or self-deception is inherently bad. The person I was - actually was someone who was angry at myself for an extended period of time. #PTSDChat

The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing What was happening under the hood was lots of stripping away bc I was clearly no longer interested in protecting myself. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet That is interesting. I think self/deception does happen for a lot of reasons. Clarity comes bit by bit as we age. #ptsdchat I’ll have to sort the dishonesty part.
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing What was happening under the hood was lots of stripping away bc I was clearly no longer interested in protecting myself. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Protecting self is a major point. Any shift in that creates an interesting crossroad. #ptsdchat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing I failed against all odds. Everything that involved chance broke against me and that situation persisted for years. I was angry at myself bc I was the only person I could reach. Is same reason I went to work on myself. It was the only thing the universe couldn't thwart. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing This topic would be good to take into a second week, in one form or another. You have brought up a lot of pertinent info. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing I failed against all odds. Everything that involved chance broke against me and that situation persisted for years. I was angry at myself bc I was the only person I could reach. Is same reason I went to work on myself. It was the only thing the universe couldn't thwart. #PTSDChat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing Any chance to talk endlessly about myself is a good time. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Which is what needs to be realized before healing can begin. There’s part of that step-by-step. The individual part is how much of what will each person realize at what speed & to what extent. Def a starting point 4 all tho. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing RT @bannedtweet: @TruthPathing Any chance to talk endlessly about myself is a good time. #PTSDChat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet Of note: I don't believe in luck but believe I had it. My history was finding what I needed - often in a bizarrely unlikely fashion. My son exhibiting the same. He recently decided he needed to learn welding - finds a MIG Welder on the side of the road on the way home. #PTSDChat
The Happy Hunker @bannedtweet @TruthPathing If there's ever a thing that needs realizing, I'm typically the last person to pick up on it. #PTSDChat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing @bannedtweet Lol! You have done the work & made changes on you. Then you explained it to your kids. These stories can help many. Also, they won’t feel they are the only ones in this. We get to see a workable way out. TY! #ptsdchat

Sue Wood @TruthPathing We’ll wind it up here for the night. Thank you, @banned for your honesty & the details of what you have experienced. #ptsdchat
Sue Wood @TruthPathing Feel free to add to this conversation at any time. Wishing all a calm week! #ptsdchat
