Elaine from Glasgow. Hello! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
Welcome #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
BTW I should say hello! I'm on the [REDACTED USER] account tonight from a slightly soggy Edinburgh #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] I would say every assessment bcos of my experience working in an inpatient psychiatric setting. #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] Yes. It forms part of our teams initial assessment #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@AideenPhysio Ditto... It is an eye opener sometimes as to how they respond to this section #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] Ahh - that's why I love working with older people. Never just one presenting issue! #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] I am comfortable asking bcos I spent a lot of time asking about it in psychiatric setting. I was definitely not confident to ask things outright when I had less experience of it. This should be important part of our education. Is it more part of PT curriculum now? #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] Copyright can be problematic! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@Laineymac80 [REDACTED USER] Yup - I think our nursing staff have swapped tools recently because of this #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] I deal same way as a physical problem- involve GP (with consent), encourage pt to seek help. Reassurance if appropriate #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@Laineymac80 [REDACTED USER] We can check copyright permissions here for NHS in Scotland https://t.co/yPuaLzNTVN #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] So important to make it clear mental health issues are nothing to be ashamed of, help is available and it happens to so many even if it isn't outwardly obvious. #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] So important that we work towards mental health being part of the big picture of healthcare. It has an enormous impact on ppl and their physical health. Good mental health is integral to good health. #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] Relevance is key. Finding something that someone can do daily and enjoys. Costs little and can be really simple- walk, youtube exercise video, yoga. If ppl enjoy they'll tend to stick with it! #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] Agree! Recent surgical experiences have opened my eyes to just how much of an impact WHAT a healthcare professional says! Even with my experience and knowledge it had a huge impact! #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] and hugely impactful if patient can feel empwered to find their own solutions even if they are guided to it! #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] in my experience depends on the extent of the anxiety and depression. I framed any engagement as a positive #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] I think time is more of an issue than weather! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
@AideenPhysio [REDACTED USER] Important to know your local resources - we have Mood café locally - online resource great for signposting https://t.co/wuMWooyxhi #physiotalk
@physiocyclekate
[REDACTED USER] Kate from South Wales - a bit late #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] Completely agree but not always so easy! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] We have a courtyard garden - but even then I probably dont use it as often as I could.... #physiotalk
J K @jellybeanstomp
[REDACTED USER] Whatever is most enjoyable for the person #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
@DrostePeter [REDACTED USER] Simple grading scale for mood pre and post exercise. Set out like a VAS but with sad at one end, happy at other. Quick and easy to do for a snapshot #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] If you mean at an individual level absolutely! From experience community work facilitates this more than in the acute setting. Don't think someone with a heavy caseload of acute in patients could accomodate. #physiotalk
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] Before implementing exercise in this population vital to screen physical health prior to exercise. As a population, tend to have much worse physical health and serious side effects from medications! #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
[REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] [REDACTED USER] @Laineymac80 [REDACTED USER] A great question! I have a local outdoor scene as mine.... #physiotalk https://t.co/N1lc1MsT4q
lmac @Laineymac80
[REDACTED USER] Start slowly and build up. Functional and relevant. Change attitude that exercise= red face, out of breath. Can be a walk, stretching, yoga. Wont meet WHO exercise guidelines to begin with but aim to build. #collaboration #support #encourage #physiotalk
Janet Thomas @JanetThomas47
[REDACTED USER] Fabulous! I visited after #WCPT2017 and loved the gardens. Can quite see why... #physiotalk
