@DysphagiaGR @ReSNetSLT Our diet provider hasn’t even given us a firm date for IDDSI compliance - hopefully before 31st March 2019! #ResNetSLT

@EmilySLT @DysphagiaGR @ReSNetSLT It’s so annoying isn’t it? They’ll be IDDSI compliant in time, but it makes it much more difficult for us if there’s nothing to show staff and service users, as the new and old descriptors don’t seem a perfect match (apart from purée) #ResNetSLT
Ginni ✝️ @ginni_bb
@MCAsupporttool @EmilySLT @DysphagiaGR @ReSNetSLT Yes, minced and moist looks/reads more like a pre mashed diet than fork mashable, and soft and bite size seems a bit more robust than fork mashable but not as firm as soft options from a normal diet. One worry I have is that providers will just call FM SaBS instead. #ResNetSLT

@ReSNetSLT Diet providers not being ready till next year, current thickener not stable across temps and different fluids using #flowtest and everyone being worried about not getting the new terminology right! #resnetslt
Ginni ✝️ @ginni_bb
@MCAsupporttool @EmilySLT @DysphagiaGR @ReSNetSLT I like the sound of the new textures, I usually view (upgrading) modified diets as offering an increasing therapeutic challenge to a recovering swallow (stroke rehab) so I want clearly differentiated diets. #ReSNetSLT

@SChalmersSLT @MCAsupporttool @EmilySLT @DysphagiaGR @ReSNetSLT Yes, is it purée, is it sandwiches with the crusts cut off, is it a full roast dinner covered in gravy? #ReSNetSLT

@ginni_bb @ReSNetSLT Confusion amongst ward staff with e.g. Pt readmitted on modified diet. Our service would not normally reAx, unless Pt not tolerating, but not sure we have capacity to see Pt to readjust to IDDSI levels? #ReSNetSLT
Ginni ✝️ @ginni_bb
@DysphagiaGR @MCAsupporttool @EmilySLT @ReSNetSLT Yes it really would. My ideal is that the food providers come to our trust HQ and showcase their wares so we can come to a consensus on which fits IDDSI the best. I don’t want fork mash by another name. #ReSNetSLT

@ReSNetSLT It would be interesting to see the volume of recommendations for Level 1 and the impact of #qualityoflife #ReSNetSLT
Ginni ✝️ @ginni_bb
@speechielinz @ReSNetSLT I suspect that no matter how many conversion posters are up there will still be questions! #resnetslt
Ginni ✝️ @ginni_bb
@DysphagiaGR @EmilySLT Phew! That sounds like a lot of work. #ReSNetSLT

@ginni_bb @ReSNetSLT We’re hoping it helps all the #visual learners - like me! 😁 #ReSNetSLT

I’m sending out information to local care providers to advise of the changes, however have asked that staff contact the thickener brands direct for initial support eg around terminology. Being the one full time SLT for the ALD population in the area can be tough! #ReSNetSLT https://t.co/xlqt5OJDdL

@ReSNetSLT Thanks, it’s been an enthralling hour. I barely got off the Q1 discussions, there’s so much to say! #resnetslt
Ginni ✝️ @ginni_bb
@ReSNetSLT QoL is such an important thing to review. We’ll definitely audit our compliance using the IDDSI tests, but it should be about the improvements in patients’ lives. #ReSNetSLT
Ginni ✝️ @ginni_bb
@EmilySLT @DysphagiaGR True - the lower fluid levels are often at the bottom end of the mm scale on the flow test (eg level 2 leaving 4.5mm in the syringe, which is v different to leaving 7.8mm in the syringe in terms of flow) #resnetslt
