RT @SaludAmerica: A8 Invite elected officials to walk, bike or bus with you and a group in your neighborhood so they experience the barriers first-hand. This councilman took the bus for a month & is now a major advocate for #publictransit in #SanAntonio. @rey4sa #SaludTues https://t.co/tbWB7DLSMs

RT @americawalks: A1: A1: As @completestreets Dangerous by Design shows, we have streets that are disproportionately dangerous for people of color, older adults, and other vulnerable populations #SaludTues

RT @SaludAmerica: A8 We need help with messaging and making numbers relatable. For example, we love this point from @MillarRoger, “to make WA’s highway traffic flow freely at 60 mph requires $115 BILLION, the equivalent of a $2.20-$2.50 per gallon state gas tax.” #SaludTues

RT @PPS_Placemaking: A8.1: A8.1: It’s surprisingly simple. We measure people-first streets the same way we measure other #publicspaces. Streets perform best when they have many uses & activities, and are comfortable, reputable, well-connected & sociable. Read more: https://t.co/8EdPi1OaTg. #SaludTues https://t.co/S09uVz61WT

@CROWRDREAM Also expect some communities to reject safe streets without some sort of positive media beforehand to encourage a shift in thought. Some people have been looking at 20th century planning for so long that they don't understand reducing car trips #SaludTues

@SaludAmerica 75% of the roughly 619K households in Bexar County are paying more than 22% of their income on transportation. We need to shift to a people-first system. #SaludTues

@americawalks When you're dealing with engineers, NIMBYs, and systemic bias that prevents safe streets...yes, it's hard. #SaludTues

@iBikeSafe @Paula_CFlores Congestion pales in comparison to other transportation-related problems, like generational poverty & health disparities. Yet, a majority of transportation funding goes to congestion mitigation strategies, like road-widening projects, rather than people-first projects. #SaludTues

@iBikeSafe @Paula_CFlores We need more transportation practitioners to be honest about congestion. #SaludTues

@Paula_CFlores @MassDOT Identifying and tracking access to destinations critical to improve health and get out of poverty. Yet, vehicle speed is how we determine mobility. We don’t look at foregone trips or if people arrive alive. #SaludTues
