American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet Good morning everyone! Are you all ready for this week's #SoberUSA chat? Very important topic. https://t.co/TRwbFp3P14
American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet According to the @CDCgov, In 2015, 10,265 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (29%) of all traffic-related deaths in the US. #SoberUSA
Family Addiction Coach π Patrick Doyle MSW @PatrickDoyle_35 Heck yeah, let's DO this! @AAC_Tweet #soberusa @kgainc agreed super important and often neglected topic for sure https://t.co/9NGnktO833
American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet In addition to that, drugs other than alcohol (legal and illegal) are involved in about 16% of car crashes. #SoberUSA
Family Addiction Coach π Patrick Doyle MSW @PatrickDoyle_35 All preventable 'accidents' #soberusa @kgainc https://t.co/ERCTsxWLxl
Rebel Eclectic @RebelEclectic Come join today's #soberusa #livechat starting now! https://t.co/hIE9CcbnE7
American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet It often leaves us wondering - where is the line? If so many people are killed and injured every year due to drug and alcohol-related car accidents, why do people still do it? #SoberUSA
American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet With that being said, December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month. This week, we want to hear your thoughts on this issue that is so common, yet seldom discussed. Let's begin. #SoberUSA
CSRI @csri_aac RT @AAC_Tweet: Good morning everyone! Are you all ready for this week's #SoberUSA chat? Very important topic. https://t.co/TRwbFp3P14
American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet Q1. What are some reasons as to why people drive under the influence? #SoberUSA

Greenhouse @GreenhouseAAC RT @AAC_Tweet: Q1. What are some reasons as to why people drive under the influence? #SoberUSA
Rebel Eclectic @RebelEclectic A1. Some reasons people drive under the influence: - No DD - Impaired judgement - Taxi/Uber $$ - Distance (Im only going around the corner) - They haven't learned thier lesson - Impaired peers - So drunk they have no self control - "Inconvenience" of getting car in am #soberusa
Narconon Drug Rehab @narconon Hey #SoberUSA folks, long time no see!
Lieutenant O'Purra @HealSuffering Q1 Some that are legally under the influence may not believe themselves to be impaired. So they continue to drive not understanding the danger of doing so. #SoberUSA https://t.co/8voGgpuptL
Narconon Drug Rehab @narconon A1 They donβt think they are as impaired as they really are and their own character permits them to fudge the facts. The fact of being impaired itself reduces their ability to judge. #SoberUSA

Narconon Drug Rehab @narconon A2 Itβs possible the impaired driver wonβt make it home β ever β but worse yet, he/she might take another personβs life. Less serious risks: property damage, legal fees. #SoberUSA

Townsend Treatment @TownsendCanHelp RT @AAC_Tweet: Q2. What are some of the dangers of driving impaired? #SoberUSA
Rebel Eclectic @RebelEclectic In my old crew of friends, out of all 40-50 of them, I can think of 1-2 that haven't had a DUI, and maybe 5-7 that still have thier license. Many lost license privileges before the age of 21. I have a DUI on record too. #soberusa
Narconon Drug Rehab @narconon @RebelEclectic When I see grown men bicycling through town, this is always the first thing I think of. Unless theyβre in bicycle gear. #SoberUSA
Lieutenant O'Purra @HealSuffering A2 Some of the dangers of driving impaired are loss of control of the vehicle leading to a collision, causing a collision, damage of property and persons resulting in loss of drivers license, fines and even DEATH #SoberUSA https://t.co/kSUPlcjED6

American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet Q3. What are the benefits of having a sober designated driver? #SoberUSA
Rebel Eclectic @RebelEclectic A2. Murder. Death. Injury. Jail. Prison. Devastation. I dated a guy over 15yrs ago that had hit a parent & child, while drugged driving. The child died in his arms, and he went to prison. #SoberUSA https://t.co/vSqAap5Mfl
Narconon Drug Rehab @narconon Exactly. And if marijuana is added, the two drugs affect a driver in different ways, cancelling any ability of the driver to try to βcompensateβ for the impairment. #SoberUSA https://t.co/cC1cCLCSRm
Rebel Eclectic @RebelEclectic @narconon Absolutely! Its often the case. I used to work with a guy that had 15 drunk bike riding tickets. I was dumbfounded when he told me that. #soberusa

Lieutenant O'Purra @HealSuffering A3. One advantage of being the designated driver allows a person to see that they can still have fun without medication or alcohol. Also, there is zero risk for being arrested for DUI or DWI #SoberUSA https://t.co/5wdX4F4cdM
Narconon Drug Rehab @narconon A3 Vastly improved chance that no one will die, insurance wonβt be cancelled, no one will go to jail or the hospital. #SoberUSA

Rebel Eclectic @RebelEclectic @narconon You can get ticketed for drunk walking. But I didn't think it was possible for someone to get SO many! #Soberusa
American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet Q4. Most drunk drivers are repeat offenders. What are some prevention methods to eliminate this problem? #SoberUSA
Narconon Drug Rehab @narconon A4 Some people simply wonβt get the message. Jail may be only way to convince them. For others, education is necessary. The longer I work in this field, the more I realize that education is an integral part of the solution to so many problems. #SoberUSA

Family Addiction Coach π Patrick Doyle MSW @PatrickDoyle_35 A3/Responsible actions, avoidance of negatives; keeping one safe and secure. 'Sober' is key; the DD has no alcohol/drugs, not even one; otherwise, recruit another driver #soberusa @kgainc https://t.co/Vq0JVAsA3c

Narconon Drug Rehab @narconon So many freshmen are not ready for the drinking/drug using cultures of the colleges they attend. I write a lot of content encouraging parents to PLEASE educate thoroughly before they leave home. https://t.co/HgyIAZetrA #SoberUSA
Rebel Eclectic @RebelEclectic @narconon Among peers, age & empathy are the only things that seem to work. I've seen people lose everything & do 1Β½yrs prison time only to get a 4th DUI. Auto breathalyzer start is often started by another person π #soberusa
Family Addiction Coach π Patrick Doyle MSW @PatrickDoyle_35 A4/It's not foolproof; breathalyzer activated ignition locks; but people with Alcohol Use Disorders need effective treatment, motivation to get into recovery. Law enforcement alone doesn't work for most #soberusa @kgainc https://t.co/weNYynU7Xe

Lieutenant O'Purra @HealSuffering A4. Preventing repeat offenders starts with early education to stop underaged drinking. Also being tough on first offenders by requiring DUI education, jail time, steep fines & an ignition interlock to be installed in their car b4 getting their DL back #SoberUSA https://t.co/dOXJeX4EqU

Narconon Drug Rehab @narconon @PatrickDoyle_35 @kgainc Law enforcement and education are not as strong as addiction. These are the ones who canβt be educated. Youβre right, rehab is needed at that point. Families can be effective in insisting on rehab. #SoberUSA
