Good morning everyone! Are you all ready for this week's #SoberUSA chat? Very important topic. https://t.co/TRwbFp3P14
American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet
According to the @CDCgov, In 2015, 10,265 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (29%) of all traffic-related deaths in the US. #SoberUSA

Heck yeah, let's DO this! @AAC_Tweet #soberusa @kgainc agreed super important and often neglected topic for sure https://t.co/9NGnktO833

In addition to that, drugs other than alcohol (legal and illegal) are involved in about 16% of car crashes. #SoberUSA

It often leaves us wondering - where is the line? If so many people are killed and injured every year due to drug and alcohol-related car accidents, why do people still do it? #SoberUSA
American Addiction Centers @AAC_Tweet
With that being said, December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month. This week, we want to hear your thoughts on this issue that is so common, yet seldom discussed. Let's begin. #SoberUSA

A1. Some reasons people drive under the influence: - No DD - Impaired judgement - Taxi/Uber $$ - Distance (Im only going around the corner) - They haven't learned thier lesson - Impaired peers - So drunk they have no self control - "Inconvenience" of getting car in am #soberusa

Q1 Some that are legally under the influence may not believe themselves to be impaired. So they continue to drive not understanding the danger of doing so. #SoberUSA https://t.co/8voGgpuptL

A1 They don’t think they are as impaired as they really are and their own character permits them to fudge the facts. The fact of being impaired itself reduces their ability to judge. #SoberUSA

In my old crew of friends, out of all 40-50 of them, I can think of 1-2 that haven't had a DUI, and maybe 5-7 that still have thier license. Many lost license privileges before the age of 21. I have a DUI on record too. #soberusa

@narconon Among peers, age & empathy are the only things that seem to work. I've seen people lose everything & do 1½yrs prison time only to get a 4th DUI. Auto breathalyzer start is often started by another person 😞 #soberusa
Family Addiction Coach πŸ’™ Patrick Doyle MSW @PatrickDoyle_35
A4/It's not foolproof; breathalyzer activated ignition locks; but people with Alcohol Use Disorders need effective treatment, motivation to get into recovery. Law enforcement alone doesn't work for most #soberusa @kgainc https://t.co/weNYynU7Xe
