Q1.What diabetes technology or digital tools do you have have to have to manage diabetes? Why? #dsma
Ryan Dane 🇺🇦 @ryanryeguy89
@StrongerThanT1D Take care! #dsma

RT @DiabetesSocMed: Q1.What diabetes technology or digital tools do you have have to have to manage diabetes? Why? #dsma
Ryan Dane 🇺🇦 @ryanryeguy89
@DiabetesSocMed A1. Well I can now finally say CGM (never thought I'd say that) but it really does help me with my lows especially at night before they get too low. #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
Q1. Definitely my phone, because it shows the numbers from my CGM, and the reports that come with it #dsma

@dmsawy That’s a great movie. #dsma
Brianna @TheChronicCon
Q1: my cgm and pump. They make life so much simpler. #dsma
Dee @dmsawy
@DiabetesSocMed Tandem pump with new CIQ which is the bomb, Dexcom 6 which I would fight to the death to keep, applewatch to@vie bg at work so I look normal. #dsma
Diabetes Social Media Advocacy @DiabetesSocMed
@T1NurseFred Are you excited about seeing it this summer? #dsma

Brianna @TheChronicCon
@DiabetesSocMed Yes!!!!!! I’ve been waiting years for it! #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
RT @DiabetesSocMed: Q2. What diabetes technology and digital tools do you think missing? #dsma
Dee @dmsawy
@StephenSType1 @DiabetesSocMed Yes! Those clarity reports and Sugarmate are awesome! #dsma
Brianna @TheChronicCon
Q2: ummmm a cure? I’m not sure what other tech could come about. #dsma
Diabetes Social Media Advocacy @DiabetesSocMed
Sorry for the typos. #dsma https://t.co/T7IMKLSQkk
StephenS @StephenSType1
@T2DRemission @dmsawy I wind up running the Clarity reports prior to walking in with my Endo so she doesn't have to pull them up #dsma
Ryan Dane 🇺🇦 @ryanryeguy89
@DiabetesSocMed A2. Hmm, oral insulin? Or that already exists? #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
Q2. Interoperable technology is missing... we need CGMs & pumps & other stuff from different makers to work with each other #dsma
Dee @dmsawy
@DiabetesSocMed Now waiting for@tandem to have dosing from a phone app and a tubeless pump (the tslim sport). Who knows what else is going to be possible? Smart insulin? #dsma

Yessssss #dsma
Ryan Dane 🇺🇦 @ryanryeguy89
@DiabetesSocMed A3. So far I'm doing well without the pump, I just like old school ways. Lol. #dsma
Brianna @TheChronicCon
Q3: none of them! They are are all so important to helping me live a life with minimal diabetes interruptions #dsma
NextWaveT2D @nextwavet2d
Bill, Maryland, T2D since 2018. Favorite movie is “Surf’s Up” #dsma

@MidAmericanMom Have you thought about using a pump? If so, why? If not, why? #dsma
Diabetes Social Media Advocacy @DiabetesSocMed
❤️ #dsma
Dee @dmsawy
@DiabetesSocMed I want them all! #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
Q3. I could completely do without patient portals that 1) are cumbersome; and 2) don't speak to other patient portals. #dsma
Kelly Rawlings, MPH, PWD @KellyRawlings
Q3 For me, it's more about the lowish quality of the tools and pile-on proliferation for profit rather than me not wanting them. Too many "let's make diabetes easier" w/ an app startups that actually make it more burdensome. #dsma
Kelly Rawlings, MPH, PWD @KellyRawlings
@T2DRemission @StephenSType1 Ya gotta be patient to use those clunky portals. #dsma

RT @DiabetesSocMed: Q4. If you could wave a wand that allowed you to something (technology and digital) that we do not have right now, would it be? Why? #dsma
Dee @dmsawy
@DiabetesSocMed A closed loop system, preferably under the skin and not seen that required zero human interaction and AFFORDABLE FOR EVERYONE. #dsma
Ryan Dane 🇺🇦 @ryanryeguy89
@DiabetesSocMed A4. I guess a CGM in a watch format. You never have to change it out. Except the battery. #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
Q4. Again, on patient information: I'd make my information available via a click once I receive a request from a provider (1/2) #dsma
kelly close @kellyclose
@DiabetesSocMed Q4. Hi #dsma, late but here! I would build something that was slightly more encouraging!
Dee @dmsawy
@DiabetesSocMed I guess that would be some kind of bionic pancreas. 😄#dsma
Diabetes Social Media Advocacy @DiabetesSocMed
Q5. If your spouse or loved one could answer the last question, what would they say, and why? #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
@StephenSType1 (2/2) I don't need to enter drugs, dosage, and pump settings every time I see a new provider #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1

Q4 Magic wand tech we don't have (yet): Earlier indicators of developing autonomic neuropathy complications and better Tx #dsma
Dee @dmsawy
@DiabetesSocMed Since he was here I asked him. He said he would just make it go away! #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
Q5. She would likely already be happy with the availability of automated insulin delivery. She'd be really happy if I'd sign up for it #dsma
Kelly Rawlings, MPH, PWD @KellyRawlings
Q5 Light on my forehead that glows red when I really, really, really need some glucose. #dsma
Kelly Rawlings, MPH, PWD @KellyRawlings
@ryanryeguy89 @DiabetesSocMed I am really liking this concept of a once a lifetime injection! Scientists: you have your challenge. #dsma
Dee @dmsawy
@ryanryeguy89 @DiabetesSocMed That would be great too! And since we’re wishing for the moon, can you make that shot less painful than the darn flu shot I got today? 😂#dsma
Diabetes Social Media Advocacy @DiabetesSocMed
This would be a dream come true!!! #dsma

@T2DRemission Q5. Johnny is into privacy so I don’t think he would answer the Q. He would perhaps channel @bjfogg, “pls build something that makes people feel more successful” with #diabetes. #dsma
Brenda Bell @tmana
Hi, all! Just back from my @acgnj Mobile Devices meeting #dsma
Brenda Bell @tmana
Quick answers: Q1: glucometer, oral meds. Q2: AP, differential D subtype diagnostics (T1/T2/LADA analogies to MODY subtypes) #dsma

Q3. As a T2 who is within guidelines on oral meds & diet, I can live reasonably without CGM & insulin delivery systems. Obviously YDMV #dsma
Diabetes Social Media Advocacy @DiabetesSocMed
Q6. Do you have challenges with your HCP surrounding diabetes technology and digital tools? What are they? #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
RT @DiabetesSocMed: Q6. Do you have challenges with your HCP surrounding diabetes technology and digital tools? What are they? #dsma

@DiabetesSocMed A6. No, I don't. #dsma
Brenda Bell @tmana
Q4. An app that gives a single timeline view that integrates bg, BP, calories, diet, exertion, hydration 2 c how they affect ea other #dsma
Brenda Bell @tmana
Q5. Not sure, but I suspect something that reverses neuropathy and arthritis... #dsma
Brenda Bell @tmana
Q6. Not enough time in a visit. She's not a techie, but does look at the printed logs and we discuss our respective analyses of them #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
Q6. I'm one of the lucky few with access to a super Endo who knows the technology and is happy to let me discuss options and decisions #dsma
Diabetes Social Media Advocacy @DiabetesSocMed
Where has the time gone?!! #dsma
Brenda Bell @tmana
Q6. That said, we've never discussed temporary CGM to see where things could be improved (as if I had the money and leisure to do so) #dsma
Kelly Rawlings, MPH, PWD @KellyRawlings
Q4 Oh, and much better predictive technology about unexpected and scheduled physical activity and its after-effects. #dsma
Diabetes Social Media Advocacy @DiabetesSocMed
Q7: What would make your HCPs office visit run smoother? #dsma
Brenda Bell @tmana
FWIW: I'm annoyed at meters & apps that ASSUME a PWD is always on the same hourly schedule, eats 3 meals & 1 snack, and tests 4x/day #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
RT @DiabetesSocMed: Q7: Q7: What would make your HCPs office visit run smoother? #dsma
Brenda Bell @tmana
H7. Bloodwork results while we wait, or in advance. That would give us much more informed decision capability #dsma
Kelly Rawlings, MPH, PWD @KellyRawlings
Thanks for the chat, friends. Gotta go see a guy about some stories. #dsma
Brenda Bell @tmana
Q7. Also, if I could email her (or submit through the portal) my logs and meds list the day before the visit #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
Q7. I always think I could be better prepared. The more I prepare, the more I get to direct the discussion #dsma
Ryan Dane 🇺🇦 @ryanryeguy89

StephenS @StephenSType1
RT @DiabetesSocMed: It’s time to wrap things up, closing thoughts? #dsma
Dee @dmsawy
@DiabetesSocMed It’s mine to live with 24/7 and mine to manage. I’ll consider suggestions, but if my HCP gives me pushback, I’ll find another who will work with me. #dsma
StephenS @StephenSType1
Closing: Great topic, interesting questions. Good luck @diaTribeNews! #dsma

CT: this was a great conversation! Although, tech has come a long way there’s still a need for major improvements and a ton of innovation and affordability/access to get the tools and tech in the hands of those who need/want it. Thank you for sharing. #dsma

CT: digital diabetes technology has come a long way, but it expects us to conform to it, rather than the other way around. #dsma
