Christie F. VanHorne, M.Ed, MPH (she/her) @christie_mph
@patientchat Patient engagement means many things to me, but most importantly, the relationship between the provider and the patient is a partnership. The doctor is a medical expert; the patient is the expert of their experiences and symptoms. #patientchat
Christina Lizaso @btrfly12
"Patient engagement in healthcare" means to me that Shared Decision Making is integrated and that patients are met where they are and involved based on their interest and helped to increase their capacity to be active in their own care #patientchat

@patientchat CT: Digital tools are very helpful for those that are familiar using them. We need to bridge the knowledge gap with the tools patients and providers use. We need to work on making the digital tools accessible, functional and flexible. #patientchat

RT @ADanGrenier: @patientchat T5 That I was right to use them! Now more doctors need to rely on my symptoms tracking, more important than ever. Having access to my records online is also vital. Being able to renew my meds online also vital now. Was very "digital" before, but now it's essential. #PatientChat

@Crohnoid @ADanGrenier @SimplyKristyD which I can only laugh about since I once had a job checking large practice's group email for the e-Faxes, downloading the PDF to my hard drive, then uploading it into the EMR. creating quite a data security risk... #patientchat

@Crohnoid The nice thing about general use programs like the ones you mention are their flexibility and how you can customize them for your own personal needs. Most of the prefab apps I've found don't meet my needs because they aren't flexible enough #PatientChat

@SimplyKristyD @Crohnoid @ADanGrenier oh, and another place I worked back in 2000s the Volunteer Office was in the old Breast Center with the SAME fax number that was never changed. We'd get Mammo requests with patient information in our open breakroom weekly. sigh... #patientchat
