RT @RadiologyACR: A5 Our #ACRAccreditation campaign features four testimonials from patients who benefited from a patient-centered approach…
lillian lake @llake
@patientchat A4 A two-fold approach by keeping doctors informed and the community informed AND being honest about how up-to-date the testing is which I believe is another piece of patient-centered care. #patientchat
Jamie Roger @JamieRoger8
@abrewi3010 @nickdawson @MightyCasey @patientchat No it shouldn't. #patientchat
Jennifer Kemp, MD @JenniferKempMD
A5 my husband Stage 3 rectal Ca needed Barium enema & wanted sedation. was met with "we can't" "you don't need it" #patientchat
Natalie 🦓 @_Nataliea
@abrewi3010 And I have the opposite issue, trying not to expose myself in scrubs not designed for tiny people! #patientchat
Patient Chat @patientchat
It's that time... as the hour winds down we invite you to start sharing your closing thoughts (CT) from this chat on what you learned, were reminded of or can implement. You can start your tweet w/ CT: #patientchat
Maureen Morley @maureenmorley
T5: I have never had a bad mammography tech. They are awesome at what they do. #patientchat
Jamie Roger @JamieRoger8
BAD: I was also told I was a "pain in the ass" by the doctor because he was unsure of how he was going to perform the surgery. #patientchat You can read about the whole ordeal in my article... https://t.co/Hr9xlXbhvI
Jennifer Kemp, MD @JenniferKempMD
A5 I was naive about what it feels like as patient Radiologists Are Reducing the Pain of Uncertainty https://t.co/GRntVUp7Ni #patientchat
Syed F. Zaidi, MD @zaidirad
@patientchat A5: Bad example: when my friends family member was hospitalized, and transferred to new hospital, they repeated MRI and other testing just because they couldn’t obtain prior imaging or didn’t trust it. This still happens in this day and age #PFCC #patientchat
Mighty Casey Quinlan @MightyCasey
MY FAVORITE!! #patientchat
Nigel H @Crohnoid
@JenniferKempMD @RadiologyInfo_ I'm involved with a project in the UK for #crohnsdisease patients that will do away for the need for prep (and hopefully colonoscopies) #patientchat
lillian lake @llake
@zaidirad @patientchat Agree. And patients should not have to make repeated phone calls to get inoformaiton such as test results. It makes a patiend feel devalued & incresases distrust & perhaps even contributions to lack of cooperation in following up. "If you don't care, why should I?"#patientchat
Lisa Davis Budzinski @lisadbudzinski
Daily work can get so monotonous that forgetting the patient is scared, not to mention not feeling well all can add to anxiety. Please remember just because you’re used to all of it as a HCP, patients are not #patientchat

RT @JenniferKempMD: A5 I was naive about what it feels like as patient Radiologists Are Reducing the Pain of Uncertainty https://t.co/GRntV…
Maya Northen Augelli @mayanorthen
T5: Injury, not illness, but was told my PCL was totally in tact on imaging. After months of rehab, radiologist admitted she never looked at it & assumed b/c "nobody my size tears their PCL". It had been torn for months. I needed extensive surgery. #patientchat
Jennifer Kemp, MD @JenniferKempMD

@patientchat A5 Not enough characters for my nightmare adventure. It was involved and lacked compassion, conscious behavior toward me as an inpatient & ultimately a dishonest process. #patientchat
Christina Lizaso @btrfly12
CT: Radiology is on the ball when it comes to patient-centered care. So many practical resources available. Great stuff that others can emulate in all areas of healthcare. Love the collaborative spirit see on #patientchat today.

@JenniferKempMD I recall lying on the table during Barium enema with HCPs coldly directing test. This test is so humiliating. I asked them if they ever had this test done. Not one of them had. HCPs should go through the tests themselves to see #PatientPerspective #patientchat

Thanks to all for joining our Empowered #patientchat. We'll tweet out the transcript about 15 minutes past the hour
Syed F. Zaidi, MD @zaidirad
@llake @patientchat A5: Agree, my wife recently got an MRI and her report was embargoed in the health system, not released to us until we made a fuss and I’m a radiologist! The system needs to be transparent and reports should be accessible to patients at their will, not be paternalistic #patientchat
Nigel H @Crohnoid
@JamieRoger8 Have seen this mentioned elsewhere. Was surprised to a Tweet where an endoscopist was asking how he should cope with the instruction that "if you see something of concern" immediately stop discussing with patient". He was uncomfortable with it #patientchat

@anetto True. Although, some radiologists think they are above talking to patients. In fact I've rarely seen a radiologist talk to a patient in our area. #patientchat

lillian lake @llake
@JenniferKempMD @zaidirad @patientchat Exactly. I wonder if it's made hard because of territorial issues - each person protecting their own. Patients and their caregivers should not have to beg for information. #patientchat
Jennifer Kemp, MD @JenniferKempMD
@llake @anetto radiologists are changing. Historically we were taught that we aren't allowed to talk to patients. They aren't "our" patients but were referred by someone else. NOT true in my opinion. you are our patients #patientchat @RSNA

@JenniferKempMD @zaidirad @patientchat That's a piece, no doubt. Honesty, integrity, transparency is what they really need to follow. People are less likely to sue people they trust & like.
