@womeninmedchat @petradMD @DancingDoctor4 Hello all! Came in late to the game, but thought if the topic was relationships, I should finish dinner with my family and not rush them just for my chat! 😂. Mayo IM PD and GI doc. Excited to read the tweets and catch up! #WomenInMedicine
#JennyFromTheBlock @jennybencardino
@womeninmedchat A3 Be present. Time is of the essence. We gotta make time count. It is our most precious currency. We must carve time pockets for selfcare, family, friends, and work. I've seen physical and mental disease take over people who only care about work. #WomenInMedicine
Cathryn Luria MD @MedPedsAllergy
@womeninmedchat @petradMD @DancingDoctor4 Thanks for another great #womeninmedicine chat!

@DrFNA @NarjustDuma @womeninmedchat Agree!! Soo grateful for all my non-doctor friends too!! They provide such important perspective and balance (and distraction!!) Old friends are the greatest too— those who knew us & loved us way back when. Always grateful for work besties too. #Womeninmedicine
Amy Oxentenko MD @AmyOxentenkoMD
@DrFNA @BeyondTheCoat @womeninmedchat @petradMD @DancingDoctor4 This is almost a chat topic in itself. I have always prided myself on my multi-tasking skills, but lately have been told that actually does not save time. Really??? How can it not?! #WomenInMedicine

@womeninmedchat A3. Reciprocal honesty. Most relationships start on the wrong foot. We want to "impress" the person that we could potentially become part of our lives. Masks fall off sooner or later. Why not save ourselves from trouble and be who we truly are from the start. #womeninmedicine
Valerie A. Fitzhugh, MD @DrFNA
@abbyCCim @NarjustDuma @womeninmedchat I have some #WomenInMedicine that I count as friends and I am grateful for them too!

@AmyOxentenkoMD @BeyondTheCoat @womeninmedchat @petradMD @DancingDoctor4 I wonder if it is because we’re not fully invested at the task at hand but rather multiple tasks? #DevilsAdvocate #WomenInMedicine
Amy Oxentenko MD @AmyOxentenkoMD
@womeninmedchat Now I will have to change the standing outlook appt that the dear @ALMannixMD was so gracious to add to my outlook months back! 😂. Excited for the new (or is it old) time again! #WomenInMedicine

@atlmammo @womeninmedchat But this can be so hard. Especially for high achieving #WomenInMedicine! But we have to model this in order for trainees to learn that mistakes are inevitable, and how we handle them is the most important thing.

@InduPartha @womeninmedchat I had my daughter during my second year of med school! I agree with debt and hours being a huge factor.. as an MDPhD student, I am debt free so the choice to have a child during school was an easier one. (PS, Hubby is in grad school too) #WomenInMedicine #MDPhDMom #doubledocs

@womeninmedchat A3. To listen intently. Conversation is a true art. Our parents make every effort to teach us how to talk and new vocabulary. Therefore, we develop our speaking skills soon in life, Listening is up to us. Check this chart on interjecting. I find it illuminating. #WomenInMedicine https://t.co/JIEpy6i82m

@DrFNA @womeninmedchat I am the same. It pains me to miss something. However, I have gotten better at rethinking what I have already committed to, and what I would be giving up. The joy of being at an important event will last much longer than any high from giving a talk, etc. #WomenInMedicine

@womeninmedchat a4: i get so lost in a world of me, i forget that a large part of my job is to help others. once i get out of my own brain, i love to try to talk to my residents, etc. what is misperception, what is actually align, and how to introduce others to #womeninmedicine
Amy Oxentenko MD @AmyOxentenkoMD
@STangGirdwood @DrJenChen4kids @DancingDoctor4 @womeninmedchat It actually works so much better for us to do separate work trips. It really started to interfere with my ability to network if I knew he was waiting for me at hotel. You need to go to conference receptions, etc, to meet others in the field. #WomenInMedicine

@empathsupreme @womeninmedchat I have three teens, and not sure I could handle more! They keep asking for a dog, which feels like adding another child, so the answer has been a resounding no! I think I will buy them each a dog when they graduate and leave the house! 🤪#WomenInMedicine

@CGlideHurst @womeninmedchat This is a great way to catch up with other #WomenInMedicine. I come back from national meetings exhausted as I schedule my days so full from 7 am breakfasts to late night cocktails so I can see prior trainees, colleagues and other acquaintances. So worth it.
