@darakass Exactly what Heffner suggests (https://t.co/Z4tfKDYpQm #MedEd #FOAMed): multiple mentors for facets of professional identity #WomenInMedicine
#WomenInMedicine Chat @womeninmedchat
Q3: Can social media be a mentorship tool? If yes how have you experienced this? #WomenInMedicine
Eve Purdy @purdy_eve
Though this is not necessarily negative. Have been fortunate to find various people who surround, support, push in different and unique ways. Often a product of circumstance. I like the make up of my "board of directors". #womeninmedicine https://t.co/DWn9yQxg4q
Shreya P. Trivedi MD, MHPE @ShreyaTrivediMD
@AneesaDas @womeninmedchat I like how you made a distinction bye mentors and sponsors! How do u think of them differently? #womeninmedicine

@womeninmedchat A2: most of my mentors in residency have been men but I suspect with an all female fellowship faculty that will change. I have nothing to compare unfortunately #womeninmedicine
Natalie May @_NMay
@darakass A relevant and interesting topic - Ramani et al talk about gender and cultural mentee needs (https://t.co/klZkahEKX2 #NotFOAM #MedEd) - but I’m not sure qualifying best/worst etc. by gender is relevant. #WomenInMedicine

Tiffany Caza @Tiff_Caza
@womeninmedchat A3: yes! The pathology twitter community has been very positive. Enjoying the insights, opinions, and cases of others #WomenInMedicine
Natalie May @_NMay
@darakass @purdy_eve Indeed - social media allows me to make myself available beyond my department(s) - I try to make an effort to mentor and check in, particularly with upcoming women in EM #WomenInMedicine
#JennyFromTheBlock @jennybencardino
@womeninmedchat A2: My mentors are split evenly between men and women. I am fortunate to have an academic father in Dr. Javier Beltran and academic mother in Dr. Zehava Rosenberg. I was blessed to meet them at the beginning of my immigrant career. #womeninmedicine @NYURadiology @pwSOAR https://t.co/kA0sAdgflB

Tatiana Prowell, MD @tmprowell
A3: I wonder if there is an age difference in how one thinks about #SoMe as a tool to find mentors. I think I've tended to collect mentees more than mentors, but that may be because social media users skew younger than I am. #womeninmedicine

Social media most effective for mentorship when there is also opportunity for in person interactions (conferences, electives etc.). It doesn't replace a conversation over a coffee/pint but can cultivate relationship between those meetings. https://t.co/VuXj0EvBFJ
